beam

beam is the UK trade association representing the business events, accommodation, and meetings sectors. Its mission is to champion best practice, sustainability, and policy awareness, while giving members a collective voice across the industry and with the UK government through its Corporate Membership of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events (APPG).
Our involvement
HTS is an active member of beam, contributing at both board and working group level.
- Our CEO, Julie Shorrock, served as beam Chair in 2024, playing a key role in guiding the association’s strategic direction.
- Julie has also been a beam Board Director since 2020, contributing to governance and industry leadership.
- Julie has lead the association’s Agency Engagement action group since 2016.
- Our wider team regularly attends beam events and forums, ensuring we stay closely connected to industry developments and peer perspectives.
The BTA

The BTA (Business Travel Association) is the UK’s leading trade body for business travel. It represents the sector to government, media, and stakeholders, while driving research, best practices, and standards across corporate travel.
Our involvement
- HTS is an active member of the BTA, attending events, and contributing to industry collaboration and shared initiatives.
- Our CEO supports the BTA’s joint accommodation, meetings, and events forum delivered in collaboration with beam.
- We engage with the BTA network to contribute to industry dialogue, insight sharing, and best practice development.
The MIA

The Meetings Industry Association (MIA) is a UK-based organisation that supports the business meetings and events sector through education, advocacy, and industry collaboration.
Our involvement
HTS contributes to the MIA through Task Force representation and active participation in industry initiatives. Megan Earl supports the MIA Task Force, contributing to member engagement and best practice delivery.
Fast Forward 15

Fast Forward 15 is a leadership development programme for women in the hospitality and events industry, focused on accelerating careers through mentoring, education, and industry collaboration.
Our involvement
HTS actively supports Fast Forward 15 through senior leadership engagement and mentoring.
Our Managing Director, Nel Flint, is a mentor within the programme and contributes to key initiatives such as Education Day, where she delivers practical sessions focused on building confident communication and professional visibility.
REACH

REACH (Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage) Events Management scholarships aim to increase the representation of young people from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds on entering the industry via event management degrees.
Our involvement
HTS supports REACH through ambassador-level involvement and advocacy for greater inclusion across the sector.
Our Client Services Director is an ambassador for the REACH Events Scholarship, helping to raise awareness and support initiatives that create accessible pathways into the industry for underrepresented talent.
